Baptiste appointed Head Coach of Stanford Superstars - Roger
Harper is Assistant Coach

WEDNESDAY
JULY 2, 2008 – COOLIDGE, ANTIGUA –Stanford 20/20 has
appointed former West Indies fast bowling all rounder Eldine
Baptiste as head coach of the Stanford Superstars team to
take on England in US$20 million game on November 1st at the
Stanford Cricket Ground in Antigua.
"This is the highest of all coaching honours and I am
extremely pleased to be asked to serve in this important
capacity in the richest game ever on the planet," said the
48 year old Antiguan.
"I accept this opportunity with great humility and pride and
will do everything I can to make sure that we come out
victorious," said Baptiste, the former right arm fast bowler
who played 10 Tests and 43 One Day Internationals for the
West Indies. Baptiste never played in a side which lost or
drew a Test match, his ten appearances were all winning
ones.
After he retired from international cricket, Baptiste turned
to coaching and served as South Africa state side KwaZulu/Natal's
head coach for six years earlier this decade prior to
returning to Antigua where he coached the Stanford Antigua
and Barbuda Pro Team.
Baptiste
will have former West Indies and Kenya head coach Roger
Harper as his assistant. Harper is also the former coach of
the Stanford St Lucia Pro Team.
Harper played 25 Test matches and 105 One Day Internationals
during the 1980s and 1990s. After his retirement in 1996
Harper moved into coaching and was appointed West Indies
head coach in 2000 and held the post for three years.
